OEM Amp Question?
put in an Alpine deck and now my sub has a hard time keeping up with the
factory highs and mids at most volume settings and I need to turn it down. I
have to say, I am really impressed with how they really came alive with an
aftermarket deck. They're loud and clear and sound completely different from
the factory head unit.
want to run any amp full gain unless your in a competition or for extremely
short periods of time. You make your amp work too hard and can fry the
mosfets/board, etc. much faster if you run it full daily, especially if your
running it at 1 ohm like I am. You put much more strain on your entire
electrical system the lower the impedence and the resistance is that much
greater between your battery/power source and your bass amp. So, you
compensate, like you all probably know, between your deck, highs/mids amp
and bass amp all together.
Even at low volumes the highs are much louder than normal and only get
louder as the volume increases. My treble on the deck is set all the way
down too. I guess the added output power from the deck makes that much of
a difference which is why I should have got a pre-amp only deck instead.
