When I picked up my 430 from service today they told me to replace the shifter bushing (feels fine to me) so I bought one. Any tut's or diy's on it? I haven't ever looked in there to see what it will require.

Ok I don't have work instructions but it is not a hard job. There are two shifter bushings on the shiftrod under the car see attchment pic. item #7. You will have to raise the car on ramps or with a jack. First determine if it is the front or rear that is missing. Remove the spring clip (there are special pliers for this but it can be done without them)and then the rod now all you have to do is insert the bushing into the hole but its not always easy it's a pretty tight fit. Don't bend the spring clip or the bracket that the bushing goes into. When bushing is installed just put the shiftrod and the spring clip back on.But really the dealer should only charge around $50-$60 to install this for you I would think. Your choice though.

if you have never done it before, you will be cursing a lot trying to get the bushing in place!

Last week the service department told me that I had to get this done as well. My shifter feels fine so I haven't done it. How much was it for the part? How much does the dealer want for the labor? How difficult is it to install ourselves? Is this really something that needs to be replaced?

Pretty simple DIY, you have to get under the car. You'll feel a world of difference once it's done.....
