Change language on dashboard

Hi.

I don't have a COMAND system, only the little screen on the dashboard.
Unfortunatly, it displays in german.
I would like to change the language to english, I know it can be done, I just don't know how to do it.

Can anyone help me on this?

Do you have the controls on the steering wheel? If you do, when your car is parked and turned off, you have to turn the power on and scroll through until you get to the settings part. Its very easy!

Hi DA, thanks for your reply.

Unfortunatly, I don't have any controls on the steering wheel.

I have 3 buttons on the left of the dashboard, and 3 on the right.
Left is labled with +, - and a 3rd one I can't quite remember.
Right is labled H, M and a 3rd one I can't quite remember.
(sorry, its 3.30am here, and I just got home from a christmass party)

I had the same problem. I preferred English and it was French there.
After many attempts I gave up.
At M-B service it took them 10 seconds to do it (even free of charge).
On the other hand, changing language in MB radio (not Command) was possible through navi.
Regards

Did mine in 30 seconds - but then I have the steering wheel buttons.

Tried to do my friends E class from 99 without the steering wheel controls. Had to throw in the towel after 30 minutes!

Sorry, not much help.

Ah, I managed to do it my self.

To change the language in a car, where you do not have COMAND system, or buttons at the steering wheel, you need to do the following:

On the left side of the dashboard, and on the right side, there are 3 buttons.
Press and hold the lower button, in each side, at the same time, for about 5 seconds. Then the display will blink with language options.
I can't quite remember if you could scroll through the options by pressing the buttons on the right side of the dashboard, or if you had to press the lower buttons again, on left or right side, but once you are that far, it's not going to take long to figure out.
