CLK 230K Avantgarde (Manual)
Do you need to change shocks when lowering?
I am in the middle of choosing the right set suspension kit for my w208 avantgarde 230k.
Will i get away with just purchasing the springs, as i am aware that Avantgarde's already sit 10mm lower than elegance.
If i was to lower the car 35mm, is it detrimental to the shocks if they are not changed and will this affect the ride in a big way?

Please note that the shock actually control the ride of the car, so it will be a little bouncy aftermarket springs and OEM shocks.

That will be a pretty good drop, so I would go ahead and change the dampers. You can get away without changing them now if money is an issue, but you will probably be unhappy with the car's ride. You can get a set of Bilsteins pretty cheap on E-Bay. I would just do the entire job at once. Good luck with it.
