Is a engine swap becoming an option now?
Ok so I am very familiarwith the fact that almost everyone on here thinks it would be easier just to buy a 55 then try a swap but I am starting to wonder. I have 150,000 miles on my car making it a tougher sale and the blue book on it is well around 9 grand.
Is it feasable to swap a clk 55 engine, transmission, ecu and the nessesary equiptment into a 320? I really want to keep this car forever as it is a symbol of my success.
The question is that with how much my car has gone down in value and the amount of miles on my motor, is it now getting to the point where a swap might make sense?

it'll be pretty difficult, i just got out the honda game not too long ago and w/ the benz it's like a whole different world. I'm not too familar w/ how different the benz are but i figure it's like hondas... a civic w/ an integra motor produces more power therefore puts the suspension and drivetrain on more stress. So you might have to upgrade brakes, axles, along w/ that tranny. but shoot, if they can make a mid engine integra who knows.. maybe e55 motor? :P

Just getting the right person to do it is difficult.
55 Engine + 55 tranny + ecu = success
Breaks would be wise but not needed.
According to a Mercedes tech I know the swap is not difficult and can be done over a weekend if all parts and tools are in order.
Anyone know what the tranny and ecu will cost? approximatly

i believe a 5.5 K V8 motor runs for 10-15 G, depending on mileage and condition.
Hey if you decided to hit it, do keep us updated!
I'm looking forward for an engine swap as well. Having problems with Honda Civics 2.0 lately. Oh well, guess 4 cylinders and a tiny supercharger ain't enough

not only engine+tranny+Ecu he needs to change the differential. The 320 has a smaller differential and it won't withstand the power of the 55 engine. Basicilly he needs to change the whole car
