Cool suspension ?'s

Ok. To answer your first question: Yes, I did search. However, all of the topics were either old or unreliable.

Car is 2001 CLK55 AMG with 18's. (no spacers, proper fit)

I want my car lowered as evenly as possible front to back, and the ride to remain comfortable. (I do understand that it will stiffen up and I am ok with that. I just don't want it to feel 'slammed').

1. Please forgive me for what is probably the 3 millionth post on the same subject, but..... read above. The search really frustrated me this time.

2. Is it mandatory that I change my shocks, even though the CLK55 already comes with blisten shocks? Bilstein is what I would get, but should I get the sport or HD?

3. What # pads should i use in the front and in the rear? I have heard all of the combos out there. Where do I get the cups? Dealer?

I see many of your cars and they look great so please advise.

Euro-spec springs with 2 bump front and 1 bump rear....you won't have to change your shocks.

A half-dozen guys on this board have done this setup with good results.

Good luck.

i will be selling my kleemann springs soon if you are intrested, going coilover.
also the AMG shocks are the HD, so you should be set. that is what i have on my ride and its really nice not stiff at all which is the problem i want it stiffer as i do a lot of canyan driving.

How long did you have them on the car? I notice you have a 430, will they work on my 55? How much? When available?

Re:

I changed my dampers, but that is because I went to a Kleemann setup. I am running H&R sport springs.

I would suggest looking at the sport springs made my Schatz tuning. You can contact Jerry at formymercedes dot com. He told me that many folks have installed the Schatz springs and have not found it necessary to change the shocks. Schatz is a german tuner, and they make excellent products. Also, their springs are priced reasonably.

As to spring pads, I am running #1 pads in the rear and the stock #3 pads in the front. My car sits pretty level (very little rake). You can order the pads online or pick them up at the dealer. Just do a search on springs pads. Good luck.
