i'm bound to get flamed...so i'm just gonna say it...

CLKs are for girls doesn't matter if it's a W208 or W209. You'll see more girls driving a CLK than guys do.

CLK55 is the only model which i see more guys driving it instead of girls behind the wheel.

BUT then again...i wouldn't mind driving my sister's car or my brother's friend's CLK55.

the choice was obvious for me when choosing between W202 and W208 of course i'll pick the W208, but then it comes the W203. No doubt the sportiest Mercedes-Benz sedan/coupe ever made.

that's my story and i'm sticking to it...

flame suit on.

I do agree that CLKs are driven by females more than males, like BMW 3 series, a lot of them are driven by females, my friends and I usually call those cars "mommy's car". As for CLK55 AMG, I see more females driving it than males, including my friend's mom, I guess that a lot of wives have wealthy husband to buy them top of the line CLK instead of CLK320 or 430. But again, most CLKs on this board are driven by male and if you see those cars in person, you wouldn't think it's a "mommy's car".

It's true, there are several women driven CLK's, but non of them with H&R Sport Springs or Eibachs, Koni's or Bilstein shocks, aftermarket wheels and tires, etc.
Now where I live, in wealthy Palm Beach County, you see 60 year old ladies driving the new R230 SL-500, Jaguars XK8 and Porsche 996 and there's nothing you can do about it...... they have the money!

I contemplated getting a clk500, but the design hasn't caught onto me as of yet(Friend of mine has it). I do agree it does look really feminine, but I love the engine. If the w209 borrowed some of the looks of the w211 instead of the w203, i would have loved it and ordered it.
For that reason, I am choosing to order a E500 for the spring. It has to do with looks as well.

to me the 209 is a backwards step.. looks like a c coupe.. been there done that - at least 208 looks like an E. the CL is the way forward... or an e55...

or as much as i hate to say it a porsche cayenne - just for the get out of my way looks.

unless we can get an ml 55 with the kompressor..?

then again I might do what i've been threatening for years and buy a 911.......... unless someone makes a tvr that does actually stay together.

Yes thats true, But what else should they get? tell see a car they like they have the money so why not get it? of course they dont have any idea about the car but its just a status symbol.
I live in Coral Springs and all the time when i am in Boca you see ladies driving very expensive cars.
Like my neighbor, her husband bought her an 02' S55 AMG and she has no idea what an AMG model even is and hows its different from other S classes.

Money aside, even tho it does really matter, I still would choose the w208 because it has the look of a an e class and looks meaner, compared to the w209. Just my opinion

i agree that 209 lost it's way by not looking like the E-class. But once you sat and test drive one. you'll know it's engineer to be a better car than the 208. Just my opinion.

are ppl saying that the 211 E class looks like the 208 clk? ???
clk is supposed to be the smaller or shorter versoin of the cl.. its not supposed to resemble the E... it just happneed to look like the 210 E so maybe thats where some of you are gettin confused

it's named that way, but the CLK was actually intended to replace the original E-class coupe. Thous the 208 looks like the 210

280CE...CLK500...CLK320......

Last August I sold my '78 280CE (which I purchesed new in 1978) to take delivery of a 2003 CLK 500. The car is an awesome driver. Torque gallore....Rack and Pinion steering....a great manu-matic transmission....super brakes....a "not good enough" stereo system .... AND great design (rear end aside) in a true Coupe. From a strickly style point of view, I agree that it doesn't have the "muscle" stance or the 208 series, but it drives and performs like a CLK55 "light".
Anyway, a friend of mine with a 99 CLK320 just offered to sell me his car (He is as compulsive as I am about his car and has taken excellent care of the car). I love the interior design of the "208", and it drives great (for a six).
You can see where this is going....I'm buying the 320 .... the best of both? You Bet!!

CLK320 (w209)
Check out the pictures of the white CLK on the 209 forum. Can anybody say that isn't a stunning looking car. I agree that the 208 still looks more powerful and the 209 more elegant, but if you assume the CLK to be smaller CL, the CL is also more elegant and luxurious kind of car.

Remember when the first CLK320 208 came 5-6 years ago. It looked kind bland, before people put bigger wheels and lowered it. Same with the 209. Same the 300CE.

I have a 209, and i wasn't convinced about how it looked either. Just got 18" Brabus-VI wheels, and it changed the apperance big time. It looks stunning, just like the white one. Not even sure i need to lower it, but probably will.

Cheers

PS: If people say the 209 looks feminim, i'm not sure that's all that negative. I like the way women look ..... a lot

Cool Okay.....

....yes! I am aware that they will not make DTM body-kits for the new 209's, but I am pretty sure someone will come up with something similiar and sleeker looking to give the 209's a more robust look, as seen in photo above; and not to mention other after-market components eg. wheels, suspension, quad-exhaust system (which I have already seen by Brabus), engine mods, etc.

The 209's in my opinion have a sleeker and robust feature to the car vs. the 208's which looked more robust......

Now, what you guys need to do is let go of the past, and take hold of the future......LOL!

One more pic, to leave you guys drooling.....LMAO!

Thumbs up P.S.

.....If you guys have the Speed-Channel, formarlly known as Speed-Vision. They usually show Germany DTM races which feature the new and old CLK's kicking ***.....wink!

But, I have to admit though.....Damn! those OPel's are hot, and they are V-8'S. The funny thing about it though, when you check out the Opel's website the stock car is ugly as hell.....LOL!

More pics.......

the NEW DTM car looks more futurastic and smoother from the hood all the way to the back. The 208 DTM looks heavier and bulky, but the C-pillar shape is just awesome.

Never fear, Bruce.... Frank; See below:

Short dialog with Russian Lady C32 owner two doors down:

Me: " Hey! Beautiful car! You picked the perfect color! (Coincidentally, the same as my CLK55...)

Lady: "Thank You! I like your car too! It is beautiful too! I would like to have bought one like yours, but I cannot use baby seat as easily in CLK...."

I rest my case....

umm...ok...but we were not talking about hualling kids. or just the AMG models. Sure the C-class ARE infact driven mostly by women, so is the CLK-class.

rest my case.

wow, those pics of the W208 look fu*ken awsome. IMHO much much better looking than the W209's. The wing even looks cooler on the W208s. The front of the W209 looks to much like the C class.
