Topic bump. I'm in a similar situation. I've not bought the deck yet but I need the info on best place to get the factory deck removal tools.
If I recall correctly the wiring harness you want to buy is a VW harness. I'll check my stored threads and see what I find.

OK.. so this is what I found:

And from the same thread:
Hopefully that will help us both! Damn.. I forgot that Cruchfield can source the tools..

Use the Metra wiring kit...but for a VW. swap 2 wires and you are in.
told them I had a 99 VW Golf and they gave me the 3 parts needed to do the installation (radio keys to remove the OEM radio, European antenna adapter and the VW harness). Only trick is that the constant power and +12v ignition wires are reversed in our cars (so when wiring the headunit, just swap the wires when connecting to the adapter):

FYI, i didnt use the benz tool,
I used 2 really thin Allen Wrenches to pull the radio out.
My friend used wire from a Hanger to pull his out....
I recommend you pull the upper AC off aswell, its easier to install the backstrap with the ac control panel off, otherwise your deck will just sit and it might move when you hit any bump on the road.
