Upgrading Tires

I want to upgrade the tires on my 2002 CLK430. I have the stock 17" AMG wheels with 245/40-17s in the back and 225/45-17s up front. Does anybody know if I can mount my rear tires on the front wheels and put a set of larger, maybe 264/40-17s, in the back. Has anybody done anything like that?

OPALW208 has 20 x 9's on the front and 20 x 10.5/10 in the rear of his clk 55. Serious modifications were done to the front and rear fenders to get it to look right - a lot of rolling of the fenders.

Other than that - Normally people have 8.5 wide in the front to anywhere from 9 to 10 wide in the rear.

I have 19x8 and 19x9.5 front/rear respectively with no issue at all.

Wnycec,

I think he is not talking about a new set with new offset etc. He is talking about his current original 17" set.

The answer is easy if you spend half an hour Alirossa. Jack up your car and move the rear to the front and front to rear. Test drive your car, you have the answer

I personally, don't think you have any problem with going straight but when you do a hard turn like u-turn you may rub the inner of the front wheel (just my guess)

Good luck!

I don't think you want to do that. first of all, if you stick to the same 17-inch AMG wheels, your tires are stick out big time. as in... at least half an inch on both sides of the rims, that's not a good thing.

so in other words, you could, but trust me, it's definitely not nice.
