If you have not done so already you may also want to post this on

It is for a V-8 but the same can be done for a V-6. I actually have a set of factory manifolds to use from a 320 already. I don't have a car to test them on so I can't say what the gains might be.

99CLK320,
heat?

you mentioned that the headers put off more heat than you expected. Will the coated mild steel transfer less heat or perhaps wrapping the headers with that heat tape stuff, I forget what its called, decrease the amount of heat that is dissapated into the engine compartment?

The heat is more of a by-product of the design, but I have an idea to help mitigate this.

Well, its also about the color of the coating. The black looks great, but it also let the heat radiate through the metal.

It is reported that wrapping degrades the metal and causes it fail. Not too mention its not as effective as the coating.
