A/C quit working

my a/c quit working after some horrible squeaky rattly sounds and turned the engine off too when I stopped (the engine was idling).
I tried refilling with two cans(somebody suggested here), but did not work.
tried the eclass site and it come up with the compressor clutch malfunction(Eb1419 code).
all fuses are OK.
any suggestions what to look for next? or any ideas what could be? I hope it's not the compressor itself.
any help it's greatly appreciated. I just brought home my newborn baby girl and let me tell you that here in LA without a/c it's not fun.

Sounds like the compressor seized causing the noises and engine to stall. I hope that's not the problem but by what you described that's what I think it is.

My a/c stopped working a while ago too and I my checn engine light gave me the code "a/c pressure too high"

It ended up being some hose that was broken. Paid $580.

that's my thought too, but it would spin the pulley if it's seized?
when I connect the spray bottle, it shows high pressure(red zone), but it still took more then a bottle in the system.

my ac stopped working, well its stuck on EC mode.. so all it is is hot air.. I took it to a mech & he filled it up w. two cans & he said its probably the compressor.. but then now for me to have ac is turn my car on, then off.. then on again & i press the ec button.. then the air works.
