**NEWB Question on 2002 CLK55 AMG Convertible
I'm about to pull the trigger and pick my wife up a used '02 CLK55 AMG Convertible. This way my daughter can inherit the wife's car.
I've searched and searched and gotten mixed results..... on to the stupid newbie questions....
1) MPG's Real world city only stop and go driving (my wife is not an aggressive driver)?
2) Does premium ONLY mean premium ONLY or will the computer back out enough timing thus the performance will suffer but won't detonate? I'm sure my wife will tell me she's putting premium in it but pump regular.
Thanks for info in advance!

I got 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway in the CLK 430. I am an aggressive driver in the city. I would guess you would probably get a little more like 14-21
You HAVE to buy preimum! Please do the car a favor and do not buy it if you plan not to use premium!

YES! Premium only! Unless you do a 50/50 blend, which would be okay too. Just tell your wife that anything less than Premium will break the engine and it will cost $10,000 to replace it. It worked with my wife!

my friend, if you have the $$ to buy a CLK55 CAB, please tell me you can afford to step up $4 to $4.30. It makes about $200 a year difference, worst case. That's CHEAP insurance for a car of that caliber. and not to mention better mileage. Supposedly you can get away w/ 91 octane, but i don't see that here in the southeast. It's really not that much more expensive. do you know how much you're risking with an AMG engine? they're only like, what? $2345363243252 to replace
