"NO CD CHANGER" Error & any aftermarket options?

I know theres a ton of threads out there about CD errors, but everyone seems a bit different..heres what I'm getting:

1. CD Changer plays fine, but gets the above error when either changing CD's or going back and forth to radio back to CD, and so on.
- I pop out the cartridge , put it back in, and it starts to work again.
- eventually it will stop seeing the CD Changer, I've decided not to go back to radio for now.

2. Any use any aftermarket options? like an alpine/kenwood or somthing else?

I read up that if it was the fiber cable then my sound would be cutting out, which its not...any help is appreciated..thanks

CLK but loves my Fords
I had the same problem, I was going to swap the stock unit with a 12 disk alpine, 6 sucks anyways, but now the stock changer works fine again.

Quick update- changers been working for a while..

I noticed when I change CD's from like #2 to #6 or whatever, the playing CD sleeve gets stuck, or the magazine doesnt pull it back in. I can see it still out when I look in the changer.

Eventually causes the NO CD CHANGER error. After a bit it will eject and pull the sleeve back in..

anyone think its just the magazine?

You can buy a new magazine even from a dealer for not much money. I have also seen some on eBay. It's probably the least expensive way to troubleshoot your problem so I think it's worth a shot.

I had the same problem. I greased all moving parts and the changer has been working ok since. The player skips too easily though.

This happened on my old 430 on the coldest day of the year in Virginia Beach. I was swtiching through Cd's and then Bam, it would not work.

NO CD CHANGER kept coming up.

I heard you can take it to the dealer and have them relod the software to show it is there or something.....
