Tire Size Question

I have read a few posts on the forum about potential issues with running 225/40/18 and 265/35/18 setup. I understand why this is not an "optimal" setup due to the difference in tire circumferance, but will running this setup damage the car or cause issues?

Im interested to see if anyone has any first hand experience with this?

The reason I ask: I have 8.5X18 and 9.5x18 with 35mm offset. Currently I'm using 225/40/18 and 255/35/18. But I thought the rear needed more rubber, so I went ahead and bought some 265/35/18's. Now Im worried I wont be able to use the tires with the 225's up front....

FRONT--255/35/18 8.5in. wheel

REAR--265/35/18 9.5in. wheel

I ran this with no problems whatsoever.

My car is not lowered.

The only real issue you may have when you use different circumfrance front to back is the Cruise control not working at higher speeds. The speed sensors get confused and turn cruise off.

I don't have those exact sizes, but run 235/40-18 and 265/35-18 and have no issues.

I've also got 235/40-17 and 255/40-17 just mounted on my track wheels. They have not been on the car yet.

There is a tire/wheel calculator link here somewhere. You can type in your sizes and compare it to stock. IIRC, if you have less than 5% difference, you'll probably be fine. Hope this helps.
