How to remove the shifter plate from the console?

How to remove the shifter plate from the console?
I am trying to get to my shift module and it just looks like there is no way the plates coming off. I know it does but I always feel like I am going to break something. Any directions and tips?

1. remove shift knob...just under the knob there is a nut that you loosen...knob just pulls straight up.
2. there is a trim piece...black rectangle around shift stick..about 3x5 inches...gently pry that up starting in a corner....work your way around...off it comes.
3. Now you can grab a corner of the console cover and just pull it up. You might have to discinnect a few wires to get it out of the way after you pop it up.
