Mercedes cell phone
A friend of mine has a 2000 CLK 320 with the MB Star Tac cell phone. He needs a new phone but the dealer in the Annapolis, MD area only has a couple of re-furbished units. He only wants a new unit. Does anyone know where he can get a new phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think you can get it from anywhere but MB Dealers. One way is to have your friend call all the MB dealers even those out of state. There may still be a few with brand new Star Tac Phones.
Too bad he has a 2000 CLK. If he had a 2001 CLK and the phone was purchased direct from factory (along with the voice recognition system) you may be able to request the dealer to upgrade the system and give you the new Motoroal v60 as replacement, assuming that the phone broke down during warranty period and not because it was lost.

Cell phone upgrade....????
Does anyone know if a 1999 motorola/MBZ factory phone system can be upgraded (new interface, software, whatever?) to work with the V60 phone?

Incorrect. A 99CLK can be upgraded to the V60. Do a search here and you'll find some info. I've also talked to a MZB tech who did it and found no problems.

Only 2001 or later models can be upgraded to the Motorola v60 by upgrading the interface/cable.
............this statement is absolutely incorrect. I have encountered it in mant places and not sure where it originated from. I have a 2000 CLK that has been upgraded with a v60 phone. The car came with the original startac phone. If anyone is interested, e-mail me and I will get you in contact with who did my install.
