Code reader for M-B

I have an AutoTap code reader that I bought before I did my homework. At the time I had two Audis and a VW. VAG-COM would have been a better purchase. Fortunately, I didn't really have to use it but once or twice. (It's for sale, by the way...)
However, since purchasing my lovely Mercedes pain-in-the-neck, I need a better code reader. Right now I'm fighting with the transmission. We replaced the "conductor plate" (aka Turbine Speed Sensor) and the friggin' car is stuck in 2nd gear -- limp mode. I know that if I can get in there and clear the codes, it will be fine. My stupid code reader won't do it. argh! Now I get to drive 30 miles at 40 mph to my buddy's shop so he can clear them with the SnapOn code reader. I'd really rather do this at home in my own garage. So, in your experience, which one is best for M-B?
Thanks!

Didn't you just mention you came to your buddy's shop for a snapon code reader? Yeah if you don't satisfy with $100 code reader then spend $1000 on a snapon jk
