I always worried about that happening, except when we were driving a rental Mustang convertible in Hawaii.

I used to own a VW convertible and, if it started raining while I was driving on the highway, I wouldn't stop. The rain never hit the inside of the car; maybe just a few drops. Even when the rain was coming down in buckets. People would look at me like I was crazy, and I guess to a certain degree, it is. As long as I was doing 55 or more, I only had a few drops hit me and they were coming from the side window. I've seen others doing this too. I first tried this after witnessing a guy in an 1980ish SL 560 driving on I-20 in Atlanta with his top down in the rain.

That being said, I've never tried this in my CLK and, from the look of these pictures, I don't think I'm going to do so.

all the wrong things to do

Wow - the Darwin award to that fool.

Assured there will be:

- moldy interior
- ruin the electrical switches
- rust forming in areas where water accumulates and stays there
- damage the wood trim when moisture gets underneath it
