If you are talking about the SC430 with that really weird looking rims. I would take the CLK over it anytime
Sc's body structure is also a bit too rounded for my taste.
Even though I do like the idea of the hardtop

Good interior / nice console in SC430 but if you want the elegant look, you MUST go for CLK430 Convertible. SC430 is way more quite compare to CLK430, but not fun to drive. CLK430 is very aggressive and powerful though. As a CLK430 Conv. owner, I have never regret my choice.
I would not say CLK430 is good in every ways. There are always cons and pros. The new CLK is already in U.S. market, but many people still think that old CLK (W208) is better looking and I do agree with that. However, maybe one or two years later, people might be more attractive with newer model, W209; that is an obvious fact when the new model comes out. People first don't like it, and then they become to like it. SC430 has changed completely... you will not see totally different looking SC until four or five years later.
Price? I believe that CLK430 Conv. and SC430 is about the same or maybe CLK430 Conv. is slightly more if you add more options.

2000 CLK 430 Cab w/Ash/Dark ash leather and Ash top : all options
I, too, have the 2K 430 Cab, and if I was in the market for another lux cab, I'd still go for the M-B, even though I'm not crazy about the 209's style change, I believe the 209 model Cab will have the hard top when it comes here next year!
My wife's car is an ML and mine is the 2K Cab, and in my book, M-B makes a better car than Lexas IMHO.
When I got my Cab, there was over a 2 yr waiting list to get one, but I'm sure you can pick up the Lexus on a lot today! Mass production vs. limited production.
All this even though I think used Lexas 400's are one of the best bargains in the used car market today.
Even after owning my Cab for just over 3 yrs. now, it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it!
Good luck on you shopping choice.

2001 CLK430 Cab.
I bought the CLK430 Cab after finding that the Lexus Sc430's trunk wouldn't hold my golf clubs. I liked the Lexus more especially their build quality vs MB's which came in 16th in the latest Powers survey. I think the Lexus is the best affordable car in today's market BUT their styling stinks. The only complaint I have with the MB is the "firmness"of the front seats. They are much harder than my last Corvette's seats and certainly like a rock compared to my old Cadillac's seats. Are all MB seats this firm?

If it's between a CLK 320 and the Lexus, the decision is less clear cut, in part due to performance considerations. But I would lean toward the MB. Ofcourse, I think the Lexus is ugly so I am biased.

MBWorld Fanatic!
You can't compare a Toyota with an MB.... Oh, by the way Lexus is an expensive Toyota if you didn't know...and they are UGLY!

In late May '02, I began looking for a new
convertible. After considerable research
on the internet, I narrowed it down to three choices: bmw, lexus and corvette.
After looking at all three, I decided to stop at the mercedes dealership in syra-
cuse (ny), who had a '00 silver clk 430a.
I immediately fell in love with the m-b.
The used m-b convertible was only about
$5k less than a new one, so I ordered a
new one (which actually turned out to be
an '03 model by that point), which I had to wait for until 9-10. The sc430 had the
steel roof, had tilt-telescope wheel and
the most awesome stereo. The corvette
was the fastest (and a corvette). The bmw was hot, but just looked somewhat
plain (the m convertible was an 18 month
wait). I'm glad I waited, my '03 clk 430a
is awesome, and has the best back seat.
It's also a real head turner, as there are
only two others I know of in the Utica area. The m-b is by far the classiest, and always makes me smile every time I look at it or drive it. It's also the last year of the 208 body style!

Mercedes = elegant / powerful **IT IS MERCEDES BENZ PERIOD!**
Lexus = Quietness ?!?! New Design / Hard Top Convertible / Good interior
Very tough choice between SC430 and CLK430 Cab.
Even though I have CLK430 Cab, I also like SC430.
Obviously, because I like CLK better than SC, I bought CLK.
Want to know the REAL BAD THING ABOUT CLK compare to SC?
----- M A I N T A I N A N A N C E ------
Much more expensive than LEXUS.... even OIL CHANGE IS FIVE TIMES more expensive than Lexus.
And, when you don't have factory warranty, YOU DON'T WANT TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO THE DEALER WHAT SO EVER!!!
