Newbie Stories
So I get into my new CLK, 1st thing I do is put in my radar detector! I look up and say, "Cool...MB thinks of everything." The thingie I mistook for a lighter power was the mic/speaker (whatever it is) for the teleaid. Luckily, I gave up trying to unplug it after 2 mins. Hey! It's about the same size!
So I have a girlie ride in my car...let her out to drop off something, do a little loop to come back to pick her up....she's bangin' on the window to let her in...How am I supposed to know the car locks itself? Worse thing...I didn't know how to open her side, without crawling to the door to pull the handle. Looked like a dork.
Filling up my first tank of gas...(HOLY CRAP THIS CAR IS EXPENSIVE TO FUEL! (of course, i had a honda before)) I pull up....get out....Crap...fuel door is on the other side. Start up the car, pull around....get out. Hmm...how do I open the fuel door? Go back into the car lookin' for a lever....start cursin' about the stupid place MB probably put the fuel door switch...cuz i can't find it....opened the front hood instead, just in case it was connected. Had to call a buddy who owns a CLK430 to tell me how to open the bloody thing...<sighs> 6 mins wasted at gas station.
Anybody else have dork stories like mine?
I always second guess myself at the gas station when I pull in, not sure if the tank is on the right or the left. I think Jaguar and Lotus has dual tank fillers. That's a pretty good idea. Or else just make all the filler on the passenger side on US models so that we can get gas like the way we park.
time I got it home from the dealer, it was
just about dark. I was totally psyched
about the car and immediately took my
wife out for a ride. We were very disap-
pointed that the interior lights wouldn't
come on when the doors were opened.
I kept pushing the wrong overhead light
button, so they still wouldn't come on. I
read more of the manual the next morn-
ing, and found I was hitting the wrong
button. After that, I read all the manuals
cover to cover.
