First-time MBZ owner (was always into BMW before). Too early of a model to have come with NAV so I want to install a Pioneer AVIC Z2. I've read a fair number of threads and seen some pictures on here that indicate that some of you have done something similar, but haven't found a "How To" yet.

ANY pointers that can direct me to resources that will help me do this will be MUCH appreciated. Also my brother has a 1997 E320 and he would like the information as well as he wants to do the same thing.

May want to conside the JVC 2 din KNX-7000. I just installed that in my 02 CLK and I love it. Fits perfectly without the need to purchase a mounting kit. Just the wiring harness.

Does the steering controls still work with the JVC unit? Also you know when the display in the dash displays the radio station does that still work also?

You loose all audio sterring function when you install an aftermarket unit.
