In many forums, I saw many pictures that debadged their letters in the rear trunk. And, people say that they want a clean look and debadging all emblems are much nicer.
However, I have found a funny thing about it. Usually, people who owns CLK320, they like to be "debadged" when people who owns CLK430 or CLK55 don't want to debadge.
Even people who owns CLK430 or CLK55 want "debadged look", they do not actually debadge their cars.
This is very true... very rare people with CLK430 or CLK55 debadge their emblems.
I think that when people debadge their 430 or 55 logos, they are afraid that people might think their cars are 320.
Isn't this true?? kekeke

Out Of Control!!
I hope that my debadged CLK gets mistaken for a 200K ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I debaged my car because I find it to look cleaner that way. It doesn't matter to me what people think I have under the hood. Most people probably look at it and think it's "All show and no go," and that's fine with me. I can rest easy at night knowing that I put out more at the wheels then they do at the crank.

You are the EXCEPTION Ben!
All your mods and everything cost way more than CLK430 and anyone can tell that by looking at your car with naked eyes. With your mod and etc., I would have been debadged everything too.

Debadging does give a cleaner look in my opinion. Who cares what you car you have if I had a clk55 I would hope a 430 would pick a race. Makes it more fun

I'm just debadging crazy... and it compliments the truck
It's also a question of numbers...how many people out there have 320s and how many 55s? Maybe there are a bunch of 55ers out there who run debadged and don't post on forums. But ya'd never know since there are relatively few of them to begin with.

Another reason for going debadged is that I don't really like to attract more attention than necessary. Not necessarily to race, but just to move like a fish through water.

CLK 320
I de-badged my 320. Or actually had the shop leave them off after I was rear ended. I could care less what people think is under the hood. It is completly a cleaner look thing. My car is a 99 and anyone who knows anything about the CLK will notice that I have chrome surronds around the window (thus 320) and also have the gray strip along the doors and bumpers (compared to the rest of the car being black). I do like the black look around the windows instead of the chrome but once again would only change that because it looks better not becuase I want people to think I have a 430 or a 55. If I had either I would take the badges off of them as well. I do have a vanity ECU (East Carolina University, yes we lost to Duke in football,,,easy) Alumni frame around my plate but other than that it is just the 3 point star.

I think de-badging (or no badge) started 15-20 years ago in Germany. In nearly all cases, it was the bigger engine car owners who ordered the car without the model name on the trunk ....... Understatement was the reason.

i bet, in the US, that there are way more 55's and 430's then 320's. So technically, if u own a 320, you are unique!!
me personally, i love it when others think its a 55, i just sit back and watch all of them pull stunts just to stir me up. Its fun, cause whats the point of seeing all those muscle motors cruising at 2 mph around our tiny little city!
how often are u gonna get an M5 or M3 or an SS LUMINA smoke its tires to impress? WHEN U HAVE A 55 BADGE AT THE BACK.. HATS WHEN!!

hi tery,
i guess in the US, its easy to tell the difference. But in other euro countries, even asia, the option flexibilities make it very difficult.
For example, its a fact that all AVANTGARDE models ( blue tint, birds eye maple, black trims ) come in 200's, 230's, 320's, 430's and 55's.
And ELEGANCE ( green tint, bur walnut, chrome trims ) models come in 200's, 230's, 320's and 430's but not 55AMG.
Also, they get the choice to AMG their cars from the factory. Like for example, I could place an order for a CLK 200K AVANTGARDE and have the optical package, wheels, exhaust, suspension, breaks and EC sport tuning done ( all at AMG GMBH ) before taking delivery. I could even have the choice to AMG the interior if I wished and also have the window trims chromed! ALL AT ADDITIONAL COST OBVIOUSLY!
So the only way you would ever be able to tell the difference, is by popping the hood open, but even that would trigger off the alarm!

guess ur right tery...
anyways, i've done it and sometimes i get a lot of stick for it, and sometimes i get that odd comment once or twice and ofcourse there are those who dont give a s**t.
the next step for me would be the kleeman SC!!! But unfortunately i cant get it installed here. The dealers of kleeman in saudi arabia have refused to give me warranty on the SC if its installed by others!!
