Newb question, can you help?

I started my car today after sitting in the garage for several months and noticed an oil burning smell under the hood. Looked and on the passenger side rear exhaust manifold there was oil smoke comming out.

I am assuming the valve head gasket is faulty? Now the stupid question, how do I remove the black plastic cover on top of the engine? I got half of it out by gently pulling but the rear is still stuck and didn't want to break anything. Any help?

I am talking about the large black cover on top of the engine that says "Mercedes-Benz" on it.

Just grab it from the back and pull up evenly on both sides no real trick.

Sounds like the valve seal if its hitting the exhaust manifold. Good luck

Thanks mate, it came out with no problem. Next step is searching for the leak.
