98 CLK 320 BAS ASR Braking assistance?
This is my first post. i just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this problem. the light always comes on. it doesn't effect driving conditions except my cruise control will not work, until i restart my car. does anyone else experience this? or why the BAS ASR system comes on at all? thanks for any help you have!

When the light is on then the BAS/ASR has recognised that a fault exists and the system is deactivated. BAS is the brake assist system to reduce stopping distances in an emergency situation and ASR is bascily traction control (automatic skid regulation).
You'll need to get your car scanned for code to help determine where the fault lies. Common fault are the stop lamp switch (75% of the time) and a damaged BAS control unit (usually water damaged)

when does the light come on? when you step on the brake? see if your brake lights are working..mine weren't and the problem was the brake light switch behind the brake pedal..i took it out and cleaned out the metal conections! works like new now
