Lowering help
hey guys, kinda new here with a 01 clk 430 (will post pics tomorow)
but first question is, what springs do i need to go with for the rear not to look like its sitting higher, or the wheel to fender gap be more in the rear, like the hot rod look lol

Two things first:
What size wheels are you running? Lowering can cause rubbing on some aftermarket wheels, particularly 19s or larger.
What size spring pads do you have on currently? If you have four or five bump pads in the rear and your lowering goal is minimal, you may be able to achieve the desired look by going with a thinner spring pad.
Good luck!

Here's a pic (not my car) of the spring pad at the top of the coil spring. In this photo, note there are 3 "bumps", indicating a 13mm height.

1 bump = 5mm
2 bump = 9mm
3 bump = 13mm
4 bump = 17mm
5 bump = 21mm
Hope this helps!

The spring pad sits on top of the coil spring. It's rubber and has "bumps" or "nibs" indicating the pad size. They range from one "bump" to 5 "bump" - more bumps = taller pad.

ohhh alright cool i get it, soo if i do h&r springs and my rear sits higher i can just change out the spring pad to a smalller one and adjust the stance........if i get h&r springs what size spring pads should i run? i want to get rid of the fender gaps in all four corners

ok so i found some service records that say my shock pads were changed to 2 rear and 1 front, so im guessing this is why the rear sits higher....any one running h&r springs with #1 pads all around? if so post some pics please
