Black paint care advice needed....

i recently got my 2002 CLK320, black on black.

What is the best way to care for the paint?

best wax/polish?
best way to fix clear coat scratches?
winter tips?

it's my first black car, any advice is much appreciated....

Thanks
Dave

detailing

there is a detailing forum on this board as well - look for it on the general forums...

here is a good primer to start with (only because I wrote it for the nissan guys!!!)

http://www.se-r.net/car_info/clean/detail.html

some other reading:

http://www.carcareonline.com/howto_articles.html

and one more:

http://properautocare.com/information.html

most people seem to like Meguiars:

http://meguiars.com/ (I think that is right is I got the spelling)

or Zaino

http://www.zainobros.com/

good luck!

Black Cars

I use Meguiar's Soft Gel Wash weekly and Meguiar's Professional Paste Wax about once every 45 days.

I am not neurotic, so I drive it more than I worry about how it looks. The first thing you'll learn about your black on black car... it's only really clean the minute you drive it from the driveway back into the garage after you are done cleaning it. After that, the dust starts settling.

But, I do notice that it runs better after it's been waxed, the sun is out, and the top is down. Just can't figure that out...

;^)

thanks

thank u both for the reply's. I went back to my dealer (Rallye Motors) and the gentelmen in the body shop fixed it for me in 5 minutes. They also gave me the rundown on things not to do, like use paper towels on the paint, yes i am a dumbass sometimes

They recommended Mcguire's Yellow Paste wax, once every month and basically that should do it i hope. My last car was a silver S4, it was babied but the silver is easier to hide imperfections with then flat black

Autopia is THE message board for detailers. Do some reading and you'll learn alot.

http://autopia-forums.com/ForumIndex.htm

My suggestion is to switch from carnuba waxes to a synthetic, like Zaino, Blackfire, of Klasse. The durability is much greater.
