2001 clk 430
purchasing a clk430
hi! recently, i've been looking into purchasing a 2001 clk430. i've found one nearby with 109,900 miles. although the car looks in excellent condition (i've test driven it once, looked closely at the pictures,) i'm not certain if i want to spend $12,500 on such a car. i mean i would, just if the repair costs of certain parts that might go around this time might be a little too much. could anyone inform me about any specific problems that occur past the 100k point?

CLK but loves my Fords
Almost 117k on mine and i admit i havent taken very good care of mine. Only problems i had were the crankshaft position sensor and a motor mount both before 60k, nothing since.

2002 CLK55 AMG cabriolet
Without maintenance records and given that amount of miles, you'd be taking a gamble. Before I came to this forum, I gambled with my car and got lucky. After being on this forum and seeing the range of problems that can occur with a bad apple, I'm not taking as big a gamble on my next CLK.

Hi,
i'm looking at at the sweetest 2002 clk 430 convertible with 58k miles
but its not a dealership. its at a small lot across from the dealership.
I am in love with this car and they want about $16k.
once i get the maintenance records what am i looking for.
My cousin works at an import service shop and deals with these and other german cars. his advice is to stay away from them. he recommends Lexus, honda etc
I am looking at a bmw too but everyone seems to have one.
Thanks for your advice
