230clk crankshaft position sensor
that old chestnut I hear you say! Had a couple of problems when the car cut out and started again after about 15 minutes. Finally got it to a garage and diagnostic check showed cps. Part has been replaced but car will still not start. The garage say there is no fuel feed to engine and no spark, but not sure what problem is. Am i about to get stuffed for a big wad of cash?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreaciated........

What are codes?
How is the car acting now?
Problem still the same? Parts have been known to be 'bad from stock'.
Do you trust the mechanic?
Knee jerk reaction for me is suspicion.

thanks for your response unlukky. I do trust the mechanic, an old friend, you got it spot on. I had supplied the sensor from a non MB source. Mechanic ordered one from MB, fitted it, and the the car started first time! Part from MB £85, non MB part £40, plain to see why. Now I have to go and try and get my money back for the other sensor.....
Incidentally the fault code cleared when the non MB part was fitted but would still not start, bit strange??
