Check engine P0305, powerloss, bad idle and hesitation immediately after FILL UP

I very close to empty when I got to the gas station. The pump was working poorly, clicking off all the time so I put in about $5 and left. Didn't even get to the next light when the car starts stuttering and missing and the Check Engine light comes on. It's the P0305 code (misfire cyl 5) It felt like it was about to stall out and continued to stutter for miles until I limped my way back to another gas station and put in a full tank. Then checked the CEL, reset it and drove it around.

The stuttering and poor idle is nearly gone however the power is still lacking.

What happened? Sucked in bad gas/water? Why does it still run poor? What could it be?

sounds like a faulty MAF. easy fix. it's a DIY job which takes roughly 2 minutes. The part runs about $125.

Probably was poor fuel. Run this tank down to the bottom, refill and see how you go from there. If it's still down on power then look into it further.

I did a good amount of searching on here and looks the common culprits for hesitation, powerloss, misfiring, and similar type of behavior are:
-MAF -coils -spark plugs -O2 sensors -wires

I would typically think MAF as well but I find it strange that it blew immediately after I almost ran the car dry of gas and filled up for $5 worth. Makes me think that the gas had to have something to do with it. I was told it may be water accumulated at the bottom of the tank or poor gas which was sucked up into the system. Water clogs up injectors and fuel filter and leads to the same symptoms my car is suffering from. This is why you should never let your tank get too low on gas.

I will try some injector cleaner and I heard that alcohol can be added to the tank and it will mix with the water and help it burn.
