Cat Converter Recall Question....
Gentlemen....Ladies,
Quick question....I have a 2000 W208. Did we not have cat recall a few years back? I am fairly certain I had this recall taken care of but here less than 25k later, I have a rattlin cat. If it was a recall, and the recall part blows up after a few thousand miles....shouldnt they replace the part they replaced?
What is the life of our Cats? Am I gonna get the "well it's reg wear and the life of a cat is 5000 miles...you're lucky to have gone this long." crap or might I have a leg to stand on? Just curious and as always...thanks for your knowledge.

max federal emissions warranty is 8yr 80k, so warranty-wise, you're outside the limit
cats should last over 25k miles, so if you did have it replaced then, you can file a complaint w/ mbusa and they might cover it or help...if it's the original cats, you probably wont get any help from them.
ghetto solution, put a screw in the cat to stop the rattle: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/catalytic.html
performance: replace it w/ hi flow cats for less $
MB's way: pay lotsa $$$ for original cats and install
