What does a drag link assembly do? & warranty coverage?
They took my car for a test drive and informed me that the "drag link assembly" for the ball joints were making noise and needed replacement.
Also, the blower motor and motor regulator for my climate control needed replacing (it was making funny noises & changing speeds a lot.)
My questions are:
What is the drag link assembly for????
Is $1600+ typical for these repairs (both items)????
(It is covered by my extended non-mercedes warranty so it is not a big deal. I'm just curious about this....I have no reason to think the dealer is being anything but honest.)
I am however, a little concerned about my warranty. While they did approve the expenses--there is a clause in this "Max-Care" contract that allows them to cancel the warranty "for any reason in the first 90 days." It has only been 60 days, and this claim will exceed my total payment for the 4 year warranty!!
Have you ever heard of a warranty being cancelled for high claims in the first 90 days????

Most of the $1600 is for the blower motor and regulator, which are quite expensive.

That is why a used "MB starmarked" car is the equivalent to the "MB premium warranty", which is available only during the first year.
After that, the Daimler-Chrysler extended warranty is second best. It sounds like Mike, unfortunately, that you have neither.
