Picking up clk this weekend - tires?
I am new to the board and picking up a 2001 320clk this weekend. Mileage is under 3K. Options on car are sunroof, cd changer, rain sensor and heated seats. I plan to have this car for more than 3 years.
What brand of snow tires would you suggest? Dealer or aftermarket? Looking for something reliable and durable for the Canadian winter. Plan is to use base 320 rims on winter tires and purchase new rims (17") and tires for the summer.
Based on your experiences, anything else I should be looking into to have added/changed?
i cannot contain my excitement - looking forward to learning from all of you!

Hi there fellow Torontonian,
I just got a set of hakkapellitta's just this past week, after the last snow fall we had. They were a must. I got a set of black steel 16" rims with 205/55-16 skins on them. The car performs as good on snow as on dry pavement. Simply amazing. Got them from
Wheels Direct in Scarborough.

Thanks koukou.
thanks koukou for your response.
I ended up buying Pirelli snow tires at the dealership (I didn't want to be stuck without them in the event it snowed on the weekend when I picked it up - turns out we are experiencing the opposite!). Pirellis were the only brand my dealership was offering. They look pretty good for snow tires and the ride was surprising good given the dry road this weekend.
Doublenickel - the car on the road (including addition of 4 snow tires) before tax was just under $60K Cdn. Okay deal?
