How i unlocked my boot with out power.......

I disconnected my battery and closed the boot for a job i was doing t the car.
When it came to reconnecting the battery my boot lid could not open because it needs power to open it. And the crappy key was as useful as a chocolate tea pot
So how i unlocked the boot was like this. I removed the first aid set and tray so i had access to the two rectangle factory holes. There are two black cables(the steel cable runs inside them) on either side of each factory holes. With enough downward force (boot direction because its harder to pull them upwards) they should unlock the rear seat back. But it takes quite a bit of force, so i acquired a length of 2x2inch wood approx 8in long. I placed the end of the wood onto the cable and with a heavy hammer i gave the other end of the wood a sharp blow....bingo! Job done and the little red flag raises allowing the seat back to fold down. All that was needed was a concentration of downward force on th cable Hope this helps someone.

Or you can just pop the hood and give power there and just pop open the trunk

Ok at the risk of sounding like a DUMB ***...I never actually thought of that!!! The hood has the pos terminal and the neg terminal would just be a grounding on any part of the frame so it would essentially act as the battery if the trunk one is disconnected!

Hmmmmm NICE!!

Oh a smart **** Now if that idea worked, then that would be true. But it did not work because the battery was disconnected, thus no circuit. That may work on a dead connected battery but not an unconnected unit.
I did the usual searches and saw the little black box with the X on it. I gave it power and nothing...nil...narda. So as i said, the above description was how i did it. This forum is full of unlocking boot threads, if the engine bay method was/is the sure fire method. Then there would not be other threads (like this) on the subject.
