99 clk 320 engine part id help
After proudly repairing brakes, cigar lighter, cabin filter and oil change I found myself checking for any leaks around filter etc when I noticed on one of the serpentine belt pulleys what looked like a gasket that was protruding from behing/within pulley? I have purchased a repair manual but it has yet to arrive and I was wondering if anyone can help me ID it and how big of a deal it is to drive with and/or replace. I am fairly handy but have limited engine knowledge and usually educate myself as I go. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
If I'm looking at the picture right I believe it is your crankshaft pulley with vibration dampner.
The PN is 1120351400
the part cost around $63 from KO performance. but if you hunt around you might find it cheaper.
As for replacing it, I haven't tried to replace it so can't help you there. I'm sure your gonna need a puller of some sort to take off the pulley.

If it's the bottom pulley, that would be the harmonic balancer pulley.
When they fail, the flying debris usually caused a lot of collateral damage.
Parts and labor w/o any collateral damage +/- $300.
It was a very common problem and there was finally a recall on this for 1998 - 2000 models.

Call your dealer with your VIN.
