Is it my key or EIS

I hope someone can help me with this one. I have a 2003 CLK430A/W208. My key does not open the door nor does it unlock the steering wheel. In fact when I insert the key, no message is displayed on the LCD display about it being the wrong key. Do you have any idea what my problem might be? Is it my key or my EIS?

I checked my fuses in the trunk and found that Fuse Position 9 was blown. It was a 25A fuse, associated with the central locking system. I replaced it but car still won't unlock with the remote key or will not unlock steering wheel when I insert the key into the EIS.

Is it a simple, albeit, expense matter of order a new key, or is it a much more expensive matter have towing the car in to have it diagnosed and a new EIS put in?

Thanking you in advance.
