Big Problem...need Help/advice
I got a transmission fluid change on my 98 clk320. Used all original parts/fluid. Drove out of the shop, and as soon as the car reaches fourth gear, it goes to neutral. They say it is going to cost over $1500 to fix. What could the problem be? I have to leave the shifter in 3rd gear if I want to drive the car at all because after third it goes into neutral. Car has 86k miles
they only put 7 quarts in...is that enough?
Also downshifts feel like a strong boom.
I NEED HELP!!!

car needed the change
The car definitely needed the change. Shifting was feeling like stick shift almost. After the change it drove a few blocks good, then the problem occured after a loud bang. The place is very reputable, however, I found out 9 quarts instead of 7 is reccomended on this tranny. Sounds like they were trying to create a problem so I would go back to them.
They said something about a valve...maybe a body valve or something I dont remember exactly but they said closer to 2000 to fix now. What I am going to do is add another 2 quarts of fluid (all fluid/parts used were original mb).
They also reset adaptation parameters. Maybe that caused a problem?
In any case, legal action is not out of the question and I am certainly not paying them for a fluid change as they reccomended it to me and I did not ask for it.
