Need Help Deciding

I know the reasons are obvious but I still can't decide if I should or shouldn't do the following mods, please help me decide.

Should I and why?

2. EvoSport Pully

Whats the price of pulley with the evosport pulley will you need to get a new tune? I always like more power. I'm on the fence on the sway bars heard the bushing will keep popping out every so often.

The pulley on the EvoSport site is like $370. I don't think you need a new tune, I'm doing data gathering now, plan to make my decision in about 2 weeks. Are you talking about the bushings for the H&R Sway bars? I think Renntec also make Sway bars as well.

I'm still confused on the difference between what a Sway Bar does and what a Strut Bar does in regards to handling. I've researched but nothing in terms that I understand. If someone could draw me a picture with crayons would be helpful or do an interactive video with Elmo. lol

99CLK320,
sway bar & strut bar

They do the same thing. The sway bars are located under the car and connect either side at some point on the suspension near the shocks or on the A arms somewhere. The strut bars connect the top of the shocks. If I was under the car with you I could point it out. maybe someone can post a picture from the WIS. basically the sway bars provide torsional support from left to right as the car is cornering. the heavier the bar the less body roll. Just like the strut bar does at the top of the shock mounting points. connecting the top of shocks with a strut prevents the upper body from torquing i.e. body roll. the more you tighten the strut bar the stiffer the suspension and the less the body of the car can flex/torque. make sense?

Evo pulley kit. there was a very lengthy thread on this issue on benzworld.org between an engineer that had worked on a factory racing team who, with figures and facts, said that the gains were minimal from "underdrive" pulleys. He did say that a pulley kit, along with numerous other engine modifications will add to the total power increases but by itself the gains were, again, minimal. the guy from Evo argued till the cows came home but, IMO, didn't really support his side of the story very well. I do not have a scientific mind so I don't really know who won the arguement but basically, IMO, the engineer had nothing to gain in his position whereas Evo dude had an agenda, and rightfully so. I think it was linh, an earlier poster on benzworld, who said that a pulley kit for a four cylinder kompressor was a good mod but not for the 6 or the 8. if you can find the thread with Evodude and the engineer, that will be the most informative. Good luck. P.S. Did you ever get your chiptune straightened out?

MAN That sounds GAY!!!

Headers are most definatly on the LIST As far as PowerChip ECU tune, did not turn out well because come to find out the ECU Mapping for my CLK in Japan are different than the US ECU. PowerChip will set up shop in Japan opening in June so I will wait till then and get my money back. They are partnering with a Japanese ECU tuning company and will offer special tuning packages that will only be available overseas.
