Owner Question: Do infant/toddler seats fit well in a 2001 CLK 430 Cabriolet?
I am currently researching a 2001 CLK 430 Cab. and am looking to get some owner feedback on whether or not the rear seats work well with toddler and infant car seats. One kid 4yo, one kid 1.5yo. I am 6'-0" and want to know if the wheel will be in my chest if I attempt this. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The 1.5 year old will be fine behind you until he/she starts getting older, then you will have a problem. When my 4 year old sits with the seat almost all the way back, he has to move his feet side to side to fit. This and my 4 year old is in a booster style seat (one with a back) and is small for his age (I'm 5-8). It can be done, but only for short trips around town or fun...

2000 CLK430
I have a 2000 CLK430 and the backseat was just fine until my daughter hit 6 years old. She is in a booster and I (5 ft. 10in. ) have to scoot my seat up a bit basically making it uncomfortable for the both of us. The seats are great for kids up to 5-6 years old, any older and the both of you will start havings issues.
I wouldn't get rid of my CLK so I ended up buying a 2nd vehicle (Infiniti QX56) to carry the 2 kids around. I dont have any pictures but if you have seen a CLK backseat you will know that its VERY small so make a decision wisely if you plan on using this as a main vehicle when the kids start growing.
Ooops...I just read your post again. It seems that you already own a CLK so...All I can tell you is that it will be a major pain for the kids to buckle the seat belt with the kid seats. The kid seats are wider than the seats so that makes it a pain to actually buckle the seats when the kids are in the car. Be prepared to have to twist around to always help them buckle up. (Small price to pay for safety though)

I also have a 2001 CLK 430 Cab. Since this vehicle does not have the LATCH system and I had 2 Graco seats in the back at the same time for the past 3 years I wanted to be sure that they were tight and would not move. When I installed them using the normal seat belts, I would put all my weight onto the child seat as so to depress the seat deeper into the car and then work the seat belt as so it would ratchet and catch at a lower point so when it was in a normal position it would be very tight. This worked great for us. Good luck.

I don't have a Cabriolet, but can tell you this... FWIW... The seats will fit, but as your kids' legs get longer, prepare for some kicks in the back of your seat. Like Greg, we bought other vehicles to transport the kids in--a Grand Cherokee and a C300. MUCH more convenient.

We have one child (7 years), and she sits behind my wife on the passenger side in my CLK430 Cab, and she's completely comfortable with that setup. She uses an 'Evenflo' booster seat (with no back) that we purchased at Walmart, and doesn't have any trouble connecting the seatbelt. It's not too wide, no problems there. My wife is 5'5" and is fine with the seat moved forward a little, she completely comfortable, too.
Now, with two kids, it may be a problem, I'm 6'2", and there's no leg room behind my seat. When her friends ride in the car, I ask them to sit indian style, and that works for short trips, but not for long trips. Hope this helps.
