Help - damage to front apron

Somehow, I hit a curb and broke the indicated piece completely off the front apron of my CLK55. The entire "fin" broke off all the way across the front. Does anyone know if this piece is something that is [somewhat] easily replaced or if it is all a part of a [very expensive] one piece front trim? There seems to be no other damage to the car except for this piece.

Any help is appreciated.

David

Hi there,

If the whole trim (bar) came off, try to snap it back in. These things are designed to pop out when forced. Mine came off a couple of times, and I just snap it back in.

If it "broke" off in other ways or if the bar it self is broken in half or something like that, then it's time for a Lorirenser DTM front,

Good luck.

It probably is not broken, they are made to come out so you can get to the tie downs,(when the car is transported.) My car came from the factory with wire tie straps, they were either installed by the dealer or put on at the factory, because my car was ordered and the day it came in was the day I picked it up. So try the wire ties, you can get them in black. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the tips. From my estimate, it appears broken as all the fasteners that hold it on all appear to be snapped.

That's a good looking car!!! That is a 55 isn't it. I love the silver just always looks clean. On your front piece maybe you will be able to drill some small holes in it and run the ties through them and reconnect it. I have heard a lot of people on this forum having trouble with this piece.

I borrowed that pic from the 55 gallery. After I sent it, I found one
of my own car that I could've used. I am going to take it in on Monday to have it checked out. I'd just as soon get it fixed as I won't be keeping it much longer.
