Humming of wheels...
Whats up fellas. Quick question for u guys...:
I just recently put brand new tires on my 2002 CLK 430 with 94,000 miles because they were humming like they were worn out or had a bump in them. Well, even with the new tires, they still making the same sound! Not a metal on metal sound, but rubber on pavement and increases when speed increases. WTF!
I do have larger wheels and tires. I went with 18" rims with 235x40x18 in front and 265x35x18s in the rear. But these are my 3rd set of tires. And car never made this sound before. Even when the 1st set were worn down.
Thanks in advance,
R

check the wheels and wheel bearings. if it is your wheel bearings don't waste your money at the dealer or those mercedes repair shops that want $80 for each side just for parts. you can buy the inner and outter bearings for $26 total for each side and they also have the mobil 1 syntetic packing grease for about $6. and the work is about 2 hours and very easy.
