Spraying/washing off engine bay question...

How many of you have actually sprayed off your engine bay with a power washer, water hose, or whatever?

What do you need to cover up as far as the electrical components? I know you need to cover the fuse box area and the MAF, but what else?

The last time I did this I must have gotten something wet, and about 20 minutes after my car wash the alarm starting going off WHILE I WAS DRIVING! I lived in Vegas at the time and people were looking at me in traffic like I just stole it

So anyway, just need to know how to correctly go about doing this so I don't mess anything else up again. My engine bay needs it bad...-

Maf, Coil packs, and Alternator would be my worries. Solvent, stiff nylon bristle brush, and regular stream of water would be my cleaning choice. Id forget bout the pressure washer... too much chance of forcing water into the smallest most expensive parts you never even knew existed!

Thanks for the help, guys.

I had read about the "hand cleaning" method, but I would like to avoid that if possible.

Does anyone know how the dealerships do it?

I swear, I've never seen a more spotless engine bay from a vehicle after they do it. I don't live in Vegas anymore or I would just have them do it; the closest dealer to me won't touch it.
