Will 18" wheels fit on a 99 clk 230
Hi,
I am sure that this will have been asked before but I couldn't find an answer using the site search.
I have a 99 clk 230 that is on 16" wheels
I am thinking of upgrading to 18" wheels and was wondering of there would be any problems.
I am looking at fitting 18x8.5 with 225 40 18 tyres on the front and 18x9.5 with 255 35 18 wheels on the back.
I have been told that they should fit by the shop but wanted to check first.
Also would I still be able to fit lower suspenion with these fitted.
Cheers for any help.

Are you putting on other mercedes rims on this car as I have been trying to figure out if the later model rims will fit on my w208 and have not found it out yet. Would sure hate to buy a nice set and find out they wont fit.

For me I have the same tyres as you, I have also lowered my car on Eibachs with minimal pads and dont get any rubbing. I have added rear 18mm spacers to the rear to keep the look tight.!
The largest tyres I have had that fitted were 265 x 40 x 18" on the rears, but I got rid of them as they looked too big and I prefer the little stretch you get with the 255. I have also just gone wider on the front to 235 x 40 x 18".
Good Luck.

handeling is tighter and yet the ride is much the same, thanks to the progressive Eibach coils

Not to hijack this thread but it's a pretty easy question I thought someone could answer:
I've scoured the internet for weights on the CLK 320 wheels (style 65245) and can't find any...anybody know weights per wheel? 16x7, if that helps.

2000 CLK430 Cabriolet
Ordered Tire/Rims from Tirerack, Order Date: 10/28/08
4 18x8 ASA JH9 BDC In Stock $159.00 $636.00
4 235/40ZR-18 Goodyear Eagle GT XL $134.00 $536.00
Shipping: $123.85
Order Total Including Shipping: $1,295.85
I have the same size tires on all 4 corners, which means stepped up a bit up front, and down a bit in rear. Used a snipper to trim about 1/4 inch from a plastic vent/louver inside the front fender well. Problem solved and don't have to mess with two different tire sizes--it isn't a Ferrari.

18's will fit. Got 225/40/18 front & 245/40/18's on the back.
Looks cool but I think it needs a drop.
