please help

hey everyone. i have two problems. here it goes:

1. this past sunday i was driving on the freeway and my front driver wheel started making some noise. so i took it to my shop and they said it was the whell bearings. i just changed the bearings about 5 months ago but i guess i tightened them too much so they were completely gone and the ring that holds them in place was chewed up. so they changed the bearings for me and the car doesn't make the noise but my stearing shakes a little time to time and my tires are only 3 months old and they are balanced. any ideas please and sometimes specially this past saturday in the rain my stearing wheel kept being pulled from side to side.

2. second problem is my car when i come to a stop at idle it shakes a bit feels like when you get the chills and shake. it only does it at idle. i put a new MAF, all new ignition coils, wires, plugs and new air filter and still there, any ideas.

Thanks.

99CLK320,
ever changed the steering damper?
idle shaking: have you ever replaced the motor and transmission mounts? have your shop check to see if the motor mounts are leaking fluid. there was a long discussion on motor mounts on this forum that stated that faulty mounts affected the idle and, I believe someone, may have been Marcus, stated the that the w209 mounts were superior to the OEM w208 parts and would fit our model.

Just saw this thread...

1. Check the tire pressure, I get that same feeling sometimes when the weather changes especially when it gets colder. Also check your brake discs, pads and calipers to see if they are loose.

2. Check that collar that holds the MAF in place. If its not on there just right, it will move when the engine rocks.

I swapped the engine and tranny mounts on my W210 two months ago (same parts, same issues as W208). The tranny mount was wasted time IMHO. Looks like it would outlast three or four sets of engine mounts. That part would hardly be responsible for rough idle.
