Not Starting sometimes?? HELP!

Hey Guys,

Pretty weird but the last 2 weeks, 2 times my car wouldnt start. It would chuck up but not fully start. Both times I had to play with it and it started about 10 minutes later. Any ideas what it could be?? Thanks!!

Hard Starting

Sounds like the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Easy and cheap fix! $55 for my '98. Look in the W208 How To's for a step by step. Hope this helps!

CPS problems usually occur when the CPS gets hot, and the car is running on low revs (on traffic light stop, parking, etc) where the car will just die. After it dies out, you have to wait for the CPS to cool down before the car will start.

Since he said the car wont start even when the engine is cold, then CPS is unlikely. But I could be wrong.

Thanks. The car starts when it is cold. Can it be the fuel pump?

Does it start when the engine is hot? If it doesn't then its the CPS.

try beating (nicely!) on the fuel pump umder the car near the passenger side rear wheel. It is right next to the fuel filter.

The car doesnt start when the Engine is hot. I guess it is the CPS. I didnt see any write ups in the 208 how to? Has anyone seen a thread?

Here's one of the best illustrations i've seen yet, of the place of the sensor. The bolt holding it in , is a 6mm. http://pingelblog.blogspot.com/2008/...on-sensor.html
