Terrorised Evo 6 with a clk 430 you must be an ace driver! (or Evo drivers were just beginners but the first option is more pleasant for you...)

not really ace... just good

slicks, koni's and a lot of weight saving helped....

remember on a dry warm track 4wd is not that much of a help....

Pfellan: what make did you get for theslick tires? Is it much better? May I know how much it is around?

Does anybody knows whether the slick tires is legal in the US road?

Thanks

slicks

Paul, My CLK 430 is awesome on the track, smoke all kinds of cars.
Hinhin7 , I run either Hoosiers or G-Force DOT tires. They can be run on the streets but NOT when it's wet.

Picture on the left is actually on the track in the rain!

my tyres are BF Goodrich full slicks... they were bought scrubbed from a British Touring Car team - they are the control tyre...

they are 24/65/17 and fit on the stock 7.5-17 rims from my car....

the grip is bordering on the unbelievable... just need more power now....

so is that your normal ride height or is that just the way it looks when your car is going through corners with stock sway bars?

race tires

Tire rack sells Hoosiers. Make sure they are the road race tires not the autocross tires. They will take a lap or two to get up to running temps so take it easy until they are warm.

Howard, I have a dumb question. It is just my curiosity that I want to know why would you need to warm up racing tires to the certain temperature so that you could get the best traction? ANy chemistry or physics involved? :-)

Do you know any Hoosiers model that is racing tires? I checked tirerack earlier and there are 4 choices of them.

How long does the racing tire last, can you get like 2000 miles on them? and do you drive from your house to the track with the racing tires?

The price for the racing tires is not so bad, considering the road tires for stock 17" is aroung 150 each, the racing tires is $200 each

Thanks,

Solihin

Racing tires don't work very well until warm...in fact all tires are slick until they are warm.

I don't know the model off hand but just ask for road race Hoosiers.

Yes, they can last that long if you don't abuse them. Correct air pressures, letting them warm up and cool down etc. You can drive to the track on them but remember they are basically slicks with hardly any treads so if it rains you are screwed.

The price for the racing tires is not so bad, considering the road tires for stock 17" is aroung 150 each, the racing tires is $200 each

Yep
Howard

Solihin
