Help With Mounting a Phone/Ipod holder w/usb power
Hi,
I have a 2002 clk 430.
I'm looking to mount a flexible neck smart phone dock holder to the interior driver side (or passenger) of the transmission console. See the attached pic for where i want to mount it.
My questions are:
1. what is under this carpeted area? can i drill screws into this spot? would rivets be better?
2. i want to install one or two powered USB connectors to the same location so i can supply the phone/ipod with power - do i just cannibalize a 12v cig lighter power adapter and splice it to a usb cable or is there a better soln?
3. Where is the best place to get the power source for this - the radio? Cig lighter?
4. audio jack - i found one thread on using the tape cassette leads to solder a aux line. is this best way to go?
