Tyre/wheel advise needed

Hello everyone... New to the site so go easy on me. Just bought my first merc a clk 320 elegance w Reg. Totally over the moon. My question is I'm about to buy a set of alloys and wondered if any one else uses these. The wheels are 17" 7J with an offset/ET of 45 and that would give me a tyre size of 215 45 17. Is the offset too much? Will it leave it too much inside the arch and look a bit odd?? I have just lowered it with eibach spings and is sitting perfect. I tried a set of 18" on it but it looked a bit out of whack. What say you smart people? Many thanks and hope I hear from some of you. Regards, Joe

stick to offsets as close to 35s and you should be fine.

np offsets in the 40s are for CL CLS and SL, just too much trouble to get wheel spacers and I am not a fan of wheel spacers up front...in my experience, even the 5mm spacers gave me a vibration on the steering wheels.

by keeping the offsets in the 30's and having the wheels hubcentric, feels much more solid.

I have had 17 inch rims in et 32 and 35, 18 inch rims et 31/35 and 19inch rims et 32 and 38, although the 19s to rub a little, i just run one size smaller in terms of widths and didnt have a problem
