New owner here... Where to buy service manual CDs?
My wife picked up a '00 CLK 430 and I'm looking to get a copy of the factory service manual on CD. Can anyone point me to a reliable source?
BTW, I hope this M-B is as rugged and reliable as the other two I've had, but from what I've seen here on the forums I'm beginning to get concerned about that.

you can find a bunch of "service" manual/cds on ebay, but I've been told that those are useless, so, use this as 411 as to where NOT to get it from.
There was 1 time, someone was selling an ACTUAL MB Manual for the CLK... but i've only seen it once. Sold for about $40

Yeah, I saw some on e-bay that claimed to cover everything from about 1970 on up to current models. They appeared to be selling for nearly nothing, so I was too skeptical to bite. One of the on-line M-B parts sellers says they normally keep the manual for the W208 but they are presently backordered. I forgot to ask how much they charge.

make sure they know you want the 'service/technical' manual and not the 'owners' manual. I thought they don't make these service manuals public until after the car is 3yrs old...??? but i guess, 2000 is 3 yrs ago.
maybe i should go pick one up too. can you let me know how much and from what dealer you got your manual from when you do acquire one?

Yeah, I have heard that they aren't available yet for the CLK, but then people are offering them for sale, so I'm not sure what the deal is. I'm sure there are some copies out there somewhere, whether they be legitimate ones offered by M-B or copies of the ones that M-B dealers use. From an ethics standpoint I don't like the idea of pirated stuff, so I'm hoping that they are actually available from M-B. I'll try to remember to post whatever I learn about availability (if no one comes on this thread and sets the record straight).
