CLK hood
I am unable to raise the hood on my '99 CLK (European model) to the vertical position. My wife's C class sportcoupe has a red button on the drivers side strut to release the hood to it's second position, but there does not appear to be any release mechanism on the CLK. Can anyone help?

Our CLK's also have this feature but its not a big red button.
Open the hood normally and then look on the passnger side hood hinge. The hinge has a small flat spot that looks like a small handle. You should be able to push on the handle/hinge and this will allow the hinge to move to its second set of hooks/hinges. You may need to lower the hood just a tad bit so that it takes pressure off of the hinges while you press on it. Once the hinge pushes in then let the hood go all the way up.

Thanks Greg, just done it. I've owned the car for three and a half years, but never needed to open the hood fully until now, as I plan to change the plugs this week. All the best to you,
