What paint manufacturer does MB use ?

Am going to paint both front fenders, hood, bumper cover & A-pillar molding. All parts new from MB. Does anyone have experience regarding

1 ...what paint manufacturer does MB use ?

2 ...what alternative manufacturers have reliable color match with MB OEM paint ?

Thanks

A year ago, I had some parking lot damage which required a new trunk lid and rear bumper cover on my 2001 CLK (Firemist Red, metallic).

Since the car was in pristine condition, I asked around and found the shops around here were all recommending and using PPG for color and clear coat.

I'm very particular and found the newly painted parts to be an absolutely perfect a match to the 8 year old original paint, in every aspect (w/o any blending done on the adjacent quarter panels).

Results may vary based on color (e.g. silver can be difficult).

My 99 paint if fragile IMO. Never drive in the winter but end up with little rock chips from where I don't know.

It's not a MB issue....you can thank the 'green' people.

Paint manufacturers were mandated to switch from durable oil based, to water based paint.

Pretty common nowadays, specially with a lot of at highway driving.
